1. What is CrossFit Generation?
CrossFit Generation was established by co-owners Barry Weidner, CSCS, NSCA-CPT , Certified CrossFit Trainer and Jocelyn Weidner, NSCA-CPT. Their vision was to bring the method of CrossFit training to the Hatboro-Horsham area to expose the public in the area to the best style of training around. Barry and Jocelyn have a combined 15 years experience in the fitness industry and collegiate level athletic experience. They are passionate about CrossFit training and look forward to introducing this method to transform the fitness levels of their members.
CrossFit Generation is a 1,300 sq ft fitness training gym located on 13 E Montgomery Ave in Hatboro, PA that offers both group and individual training. Each session is instructed by a professional CrossFit Certified Trainer and NSCA Strength Coache and Certified Personal Trainer. CrossFit Generation’s training style is unlike any other traditional fitness club in its workout styles and exercises. We train the way nature intended with body weight exercises, pull ups, push ups, squats, Olympic Weightlifting, gymnastic work and running while using minimal equipment such as, kettlebells, dumbbells, rowers, Olympic lifting barbells and bumper plates and medicine balls. The workouts are put together in ways that are consistently varied at high intensity and always changing and scaled for all fitness levels, from elite athletes to individuals who have no prior exercise experience. Each 45 minute workout is designed and lead by professionals that will coach you through a dynamic warm-up, exercise instruction/skill , a workout of the day, and stretching. Training in groups allows for camaraderie, team building and creates a great sense of community. Want individual instruction? CrossFit Generation offers personal training as well for that one-on-one training for any occasion be it a wedding, reunion or prepping for any level of athletic competitions.
The CrossFit method of training not only produces elevated fitness levels, increases strength, endurance, flexibility and decreases body fat, but it also increases self-confidence, overall health, energy and productivity in academic and workplace settings.
2. What is CrossFit?
CrossFit is a style of training that incorporates a broad spectrum of fitness modalities including gymnastics, Olympic Weightlifting, power lifting, running, rowing, and a variety of other conditioning tools to increase the 10 component of complete physical fitness: strength, stamina, endurance, flexibility, power, speed, balance, coordination, agility, and accuracy. CrossFit has been officially tested and proven more effective and safer than traditional physical training models
3. What’s a typical training session all about?
Group training is designed and lead by Barry or Jocelyn and begins with a dynamic warm-up, the workout of the day and ends with stretching. Instruction, proper form and coaching are the unique properties of each workout at CrossFit Generation compared to the local commercial club. That specialized workout and instruction sets us apart and guarantees each person to get the workout of their lives every visit for ultimate results.
Personal Training (can be done in partner style as well) gives that much more customized, individualized coaching, instruction and attention.
Workouts are scaled for every level making CrossFit Generation training appropriate for all levels and ages.
4. Who can join- is it only for athletes or highly conditioned people?
Because CrossFit Generation’s workout can be scaled for each individual’s fitness level, anyone can join in on the fun! The only requirements are that you are willing to work hard, to learn new things, have a positive attitude and have the desire and passion to let us help you reach your fitness goals. You will succeed and see great results. Currently, we are training high school athletes including football, softball, lacrosse, swimmers, their siblings, parents, coaches, marathon runners and the general population desiring to get into the best shape of their lives.
5. What about Nutrition?
Without proper nutrition your body will not be able to withstand the workouts or activities of daily living. Regardless of your fitness goals, increased strength, weight-loss, nutrition is the driving force behind these ambitions. Establishing proper eating patterns will not only fuel your body for the workouts, but aid in energizing in throughout your day. Failing to get your nutritional intake in check will result in slowed progress with the CrossFit program. The basic concept behind eating the right things in the right portions is simple: Eat meat, vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruits, minimal amounts of starch and NO sugar. For more information check out the CrossFit Dietary Prescription.
6. What should I bring with me to a CrossFit Generation training session?
Training may occur in the gym or outdoors, so proper workout clothing (light layers in colder weather) is recommended. Athetic footwear is required. Bring water and a towel, otherwise, just ready to work and work hard!
7. What should I expect if I train with you?
Training at CrossFit Generation will produce results. If you are not interested in learning new things, getting in the best shape of your life, meeting new friends, working hard, and sweating, then CrossFit might not be for you. In addition to expecting results, Barry and Jocelyn guarantee that you will get the best workout of your life, each and every session you train with us. We realize how busy everyone’s’ lives can be and know there are other places to train, (although obviously only substandard fitness centers that pales in comparison to our workouts, there ARE other choices) but because you are committed to us for that session (and hopefully more!) we will give you the utmost professionalism and coaching, motivate you to reach your physical potential, foster team building camaraderie and have fun while doing it! Lastly, you can expect us to push you hard in each session, expect to see you at each session and reserve all rights to check-in on you if you are absent (remember commitment and consistency are the keys to success!), we will give you 100% always and want you to match it each and every session!
It is impossible to predict exact rates at which individuals may progress. Everyone evolves at different rates and in different ways as the body make-up has the ultimate control. Progression depends first and foremost on commitment to us and consistency in the training session, but also on gender, age, health histories, genetics, nutrition, sleep habits, life stressors- work or school, HOWEVER, it does happen- see our testimonials for just a few success stories!
